Find your dishwasher’s care instructions
Find the exact model instructions before planning cleaning tasks. They define accessible parts, suitable products and any required consumables. A regular routine helps organise care, but cannot establish that a recurring fault has been resolved.
Which dishwasher parts can you clean yourself?
Only the parts and procedures identified for owner care in your model’s manual. Filters, spray arms and seals may have care instructions, but not every spray arm is removable or suitable for the same cleaning method. Do not force a component or open panels to reach internal water paths.
Will more detergent, salt or rinse aid fix poor washing?
Not necessarily: the right quantities and settings depend on the model, product and water conditions. Excess product is not a general remedy for dirty or marked dishes. Follow the manufacturer’s loading and consumable guidance, and seek assessment if poor results continue under the usual suitable conditions.
Get repair help for persistent wash faults
If dirty dishes, abnormal retained water or leaks persist, choose the corresponding fault guide. Explain the programme, results and approved care already completed. Stop using a leaking appliance rather than run another wash to see whether cleaning has helped.

Common questions
Does every dishwasher need salt?
No universal rule applies. Check the model’s softener and water-hardness settings; combined detergent tablets do not by themselves settle the manufacturer’s salt requirements.
How should I check whether spray arms can be removed?
Find the owner-care instructions for the exact model. If removal is not described, leave them fitted rather than twisting or levering them experimentally.
What if cleaning the filter does not improve the results?
Describe the remaining problem precisely: food residue, marks or retained water. Those results point to different checks, even though the filter has already been cleaned.
